SASEF Involvement Opportunities

Pre-College Research Excellence Programs (PREP) has 2 spring STEM events coming up we need your help at! We would love to have your student organization assist in volunteering or tabling. Please see below for more information on dates and times.

Southern Appalachian Science and Engineering Fair (SASEF) – Thurs, April 2, 2020

Each year around 150 middle and high school students come to SASEF to present their original research in a science fair setting. You can see the schedule for SASEF and learn more about this event at:


Science Olympiad – Sat, April 25, 2020

The Science Olympiad is a STEM competition where 24 teams teams of 15 students compete in multiple STEM events that follow the format of popular board games, TV shows, and athletic games. SciOly is very similar to a track meet for STEM. At the state competition we expect over 1,200 students, teachers and parents to be present. This year’s TN Science Olympiad State Tournament will be held on Saturday, April 25th.

  • Volunteers are needed to help with the individual events, serve as campus guides to buildings, assist with team check-in, and additional tasks from 6AM – 8PM on Saturday, April 25th. We have many time slots available for volunteers to fit your schedule. Please visit our volunteer portal to sign-up:
  • Student Organization booths are wanted for the Science Olympiad “Celebration Reception” in Thompson Boling Arena concourse area from 2:30 PM – 6:00 PM.
